My name is Yamna, a mineralogist and illustrator. I am passionate about minerals, rocks and gemstones, and how they have been used throughout history across different cultures. In this blog, I share my research for my passion project: an illustrated book exploring gemstones through time.
I began my journey studying geology at the University of Science and Technology Houari Boumedien in Algiers. Later, I researched historical glasses in the Freiberg University of Mining and Technology in Germany, where I obtained a Ph.D. in Applied Mineralogy.
Today, I am based in Switzerland, where I am studying geographic information systems (GIS) at the ETH Zurich and working on my first illustrated non-fiction book.
